Ugo Serrano

Ugo Serrano's fascination with the arts started in Los Angeles
on Feb. 12th, 1970…the day he was born.  Son to Ecuadorian
immigrants, Ugo was drawn to music and fine art, and spent
his time drawing instead of doing his school work.  Ugo found
solace in the abstract to escape his classmates, who thought
him rather odd.  At the age of ten, his family went to Quito,
Ecuador to spend the last days with his dying grandfather, and
they ended up staying another 5 years.  Surrounded by 16th
century architecture, cathedrals, and cobblestone streets,
Ugo's fascination with medieval life was fueled.

When he was thirteen, he was sent to a military academy,
where he was thrust into the arts once again when he began
singing for a local rock band called Phoenix.  Frustrated by his struggle to express himself
artistically in a world devoid of such endeavors, at the age of fifteen he began considering
serving his life as a Marist priest.  Luckily though, Ugo discovered women and abandoned
that plan.  His family then moved to L.A. where he pursued his artistic ventures in illustration
and costume fabrication.

At 22, Ugo moved to Nevada City, California, a highly artistic community and ended up
joining a reenactment group.  Building his own armor for this launched a lifetime passion
and career.  He went on to attend school at the International Fine Arts College in Miami,
Florida, where he received a degree in fashion design and graduated with top honors
including the Dean's list, inclusion into "The Who's Who of American Colleges" and had the
opportunity to represent the U.S. in a jewelry competition at the Louvre in Paris.

Spending some time making armor and corsetry for friends after college, Ugo finally ended
up back in L.A. where he began his career in the movie industry, landing jobs with
"Highlander 4" and "Witchblade" ,  ultimately finding work at a special effects company
where he further honed his skills.  Today, Ugo is continually perfecting his craft doing work
in the entertainment industry, sculpting, designing and with each project discovering new
abilities to add to his madness, creating timeless pieces and alternate realities... and
there's more to come.
